Class Day 1 - In this class we work on the basics of sewing. Identify a needle, thread, scissors, etc, etc. Your child will learn the basics of hand stitching. We will make a fun needle pouch. This class will last an hour and a half.
Class Day 2 - In this class we learn the basics of the sewing machine. The kids are eager to start using the machine and they are taught the basic parts of the machine. How to thread the bobbin? What is the stitch length? What is a seam allowance? How do I change a needle? How to thread the machine? We will make a book mark using differnt stitches. This class will last an hour and a half. (Sewing machine required.)
Class Day 3 - Now that your child has learned the basics of hand stitching and machine stitching, they are getting eager to make something fun. In this class they will use both skills they have learned to make a pillow with an applique of their initial of their name. They will bring home a pillow they created all by themself. This class will last two hours.
Class Day 4 - By now your child is feeling a little more comfortable with the sewing machine and hand stitching. In this class your child will learn what hems are and how to mend a seam, replace a button, and will make a hemmed apron! This class will last two hours.
Class Day 5 - In this class we will teach your child how to use what they have learned so far. In addition your child will learn how to follow fabric grain and learn what salvage edge means. We will making a sewing/project bag. Kids love to sport and showoff their projects and this one they will be able to take to school, church, around town or just use it at home to hold their favorite things in. They will get to use the skills they have learned up to this point in making this project. This class will last two hours.
Class Day 6 - This is the final day of class. This will be a creative sewing day! On Day 5 the students will select a project together they would like to create. I will have projects for them to select from. They will recieve a certificate of completion that will allow them to register for my more advanced sewing classes.
This six week course is $75 Materials not included. You will be given a supply list the first day of class. Class size will be limited to 5.
